The HBAR Foundation (THF) team recognizes that women founders are an underserved, underrepresented group across technology and wants to take steps to make sure that we are providing opportunities for everyone to contribute. THF intends to encourage more diversity, support and incentivization of women to join the Hedera ecosystem via the launch of the HBAR Foundation Female Founders Fund. Jennifer Kim, Founder/CEO of SEUNwater and Blockheads Development, will lead and manage the Female Founders Fund, which is a market development fund established by THF to provide funding to female-owned seed stage projects to later stage companies building on Hedera.
The goal of the Female Founder Fund is to encourage more women to bring their ideas and projects to Hedera and Web3. Jennifer Kim has over 20 years in marketing, sales, business operations and software development, and has solely worked on blockchain-related applications and projects since 2017. In January 2020, Jennifer and her company joined Hedera Hashgraph's Boost Program shortly after Google joined the Governing Council. Jennifer also actively recruits colleagues and former classmates to use Hedera and has recommended four startups to the HBAR Foundation Grant Program so far. In addition, Jennifer has participated in Hedera Hackathon 21, presented SEUNwater to the governing council, is a Hedera MVP, and often connects Hedera to speaking opportunities.
The Female Founders Fund will fund 5-10 projects. With the support from THF, Jennifer will promote the Female Founders Fund to the Hedera community to generate more interest among women to apply for a grant. The Female Founders Fund team will vet the merits of applicants and where necessary guide teams to develop relevant, actionable plans that can be delivered within the time & budget constraints of a potential grant.
